Postdoc Research Scholar

Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM)

Advisor: Prof. Dr. Karen Winey

  • Collaborate with chemical engineers and polymer chemists to design an approach that can efficiently recycle plastic waste like polyolefin and convert into new polymers with a higher economic value, i.e., polymer upcycling.

Postdoctoral Fellow (ERC Advanced Grant funded)

Third Institute of Physics – Biophysics

Advisor: Prof. Dr. Jörg Enderlein

  • Developed a simple but reliable optical method that combined fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and metal-induced energy transfer (MIET) to enable the investigation of fast conformational dynamics of biomolecules. The latter (MIET) is a phenomenon that the fluorescence quenching will be enhanced at the vicinity of metal surface (c.a. 200 nm above the gold and 25 nm above the graphene). In terms of the spatial sensitivity of MIET, the information about the distance distribution of labelled molecules can be further extracted from the lifetime distribution during FCS measurements.

Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany)

PhD Graduate Scientific Researcher

Advisor: Prof. Dr. George Floudas and Prof. Dr. Hans-Juergen Butt

  • Created a dielectric technique that, for the first time, enabled the in situ investigation of polymer chain and segmental dynamics during flow within nanopores.

  • Published 8 papers including top 1% scientific journals in the regime of physics/polymer physics (Physical Review Letters x1 and Macromolecules x3 as 1st author) and 1 invited book chapter in ACS Symposium Series. Cited by 73 times in peer-reviewed papers from different groups globally.

  • Awarded as Finalist of prestigious “Frank J. Padden Jr. Award” conferred by American Physical Society honoring the graduate student with “Excellence in Polymer Physics Research” in 2021. I was the only one from Europe among totally 9 awardees (others all come from the renowned institutes in USA like MIT or UPenn and so on).

  • Managed international collaboration with scientist from China, Japan and Germany to construct theories for my scientific observation. Professor Masao Doi, a renowned polymer physicist who established the famous Reptation theory (with Sir Edwards) to describe the chain motions with entanglements, was one of our collaborator.
